My Industrial Vision

I am enemy of all big industries.

So I am enemy of power plants also.

To produce power is simple thing.

small steam engine and boiler can produce power.

Connect generator with it and you produce electricity.

It is simple to produce 5 to 10 hp steam engine.

It is simple to make small wind turbines.

It is simple to make parabolic collectors which produce solar steam.

Any trained rural technician can do it.

Multiply by 50 million and you will have plenty of power everywhere.

So giant thermal power plants and atomic power plants are not required.

Complicated technology makes simple thing complicated.

I believe in home scale family size industries.

It is simple to make cloth.

Dhaka's MULMUL was produced on simple tools worth 50 rupees.

It is still not produced by sophisticated textile mills.

So textile mills are not required.

Gin your cotton in the farm,

Spin your cotton in your farm,

Weave your yarn in your village.

5hp steam engine or 3 kw wind turbine will do the job.

This much will increase rural wealth by 8 times.

Multiply by 20 million and you will produce cloth for half the world.

Baling the cotton reduces durability of cloth by 20%.

Half the machinery of textile mill is to break the bale.

Remember, centralization creates complications.

Complicated technology makes simple thing complicated.

Big sugar factories are evils. ( I worked as MD of sugar factory.)

Sugar is harmful to health.

Jaggery is hygienic.

It is simple to produce jaggery.

10hp steam engine can drive sugarcane crusher to crush 24 tonnes/day.

Boiling the juice makes delicious jaggery.

Multiply such units by one lakh and entire India can enjoy sweets everyday.

one tone sugarcane gives 140 kg jaggery,

But one tonne sugarcane gives only 100 kg sugar.

So sugar factories waste 7 million tonnes molasses making it non edible.

So sugar factories are not required.

Complicated technology makes simple thing complicated.

It is simple to press any oilseed and to get oil.

It is simple to provide pure natural fresh edible oil to all.

5 hp steam engine can run small oil expeller with filter press.

Multiply by 2 lakhs and all the oilseeds of india will be crushed.

Big oil mills and refineries are evils.

They exploit the people, adulterate oil, cause cancer by refining oil.

Complicated technology makes simple thing complicated.

Cement is not mysterious product.

Burn limestone powder with clay by coal dust and you get cement.

It is simple to produce cement and lime.

5hp steam engine will make limestone powder.

Multiply by lakh and all the people will get cement at negligible cost.

Giant cement plants are not essential for it.

Complicated technology makes simple thing complicated.

British Empire was built and was expanded simply by steam engines.

Present globalization and centralization can be broken simply by small steam engines.

In this picture, no big factories, no big companies, no multinatinal corporations.

Local production and local consumption. Minimum transport.

No big cities, no exploitation,no billionaires.

Small farms, small farmers. Self reliant life style.

Everybody works, everybody enjoys tension free happy life.

People are stronger, Government is weaker.

This is true democracy.

This is what Gandhiji wanted. He asserted that precondition of happy society is that all the means of production of primary needs of people must be in the hands of common masses. Do not centralize it.

We have betrayed Gandhiji and we are betraying him at every moment.

We are killing Gandhiji at every moment.

Sooner or later, entire world has to go on this path.

Europe and America can adopt this path and world will become paradise.

My Basic Convictions

Mahatma Gandhi's inspiring thinking on industries combined with my practical experience of 35 years as Mechanical Engineer has carved the following Basic Convictions in my heart.

  1. All the dreadful problems appearing nowadays in the world such as unemployment, hunger, exploitation, disparity, pollution, urbanization, war, terrorism etc. are direct result of heavy and centralized industries.
  2. The modern civilization based on wasteful expenditure of natural resources is destined to end in near future.
  3. Twenty first century is not in the hands of centralized heavy industries. Undercurrent of decentralization has already started; and by the end of first decade of new century, the world will throw away the dogma of industrialization.
  4. Idea of "Everything under one roof" has become out dated. The process of splitting the bigger factories into small units has already started.
  5. Principles of more economic viabilities for bigger units are illusionary. In fact where social cost is considered, bigger units can never be viable.
  6. Complex giant technology has given rise to complex way of living, due to which greed and selfishness have captured human minds and we have lost the way of happiness.
  7. Real happiness is possible only through simple living, which is possible through simple and small technology only. Complicated machinery makes simple thing also complicated.
  8. World can live in peace and harmony only if we create self sustained societies.
  9. When production is made for consumption and not for marketing, present theories of economics crumble down.
  10. Small is possible at every stage, in every industry, in every country. Small is inevitable in every industry related to primary needs of the common masses in every country.
  11. Present tax collection systems can exist only on centralized form of heavy industries. This facilitates and increases legalized robbery of people by Governments.
  12. Transport is the curse to the mankind. It facilitates spreading of evils. Worldwide transport gives rise to worldwide exploitation.

My Horror:
Whenever I see any big factory or industry, I am horrified to look at it, because it looks me as DEMON threatening the existence of humanity, its culture, its liberty, its freedom etc.

My Solace:
Whenever I see any tiny cottage industry, I am pacified to look at it, because it looks me as GOD's blessing enriching the life-style of mankind, its culture, its liberty, its freedom etc.

My Area of Interests

I am Mechanical Engineer 75 years working for rural technology since last 35 years. As I am strongly committed to Gandhiji, I have full faith in Gandhiji's thinking on industrialization and western civilization and hence I am enemy of all big industries as Gandhiji was.
My areas of interests are :-
(1) Decentralization of industries and creating alternative of all big industries.( My tiny oil mills are successfully running in 86 countries and my tiny steam power plants developed by me also will run in more than 100 countries.)
(2) Development and dissemination of power independent jaggery plants, solar powered water lifting, solar or biomass power plants for farmers, small wind turbines, tiny solar power plants, solar cookers , decentralization of textile mills in rural areas, decentralization of rice mills, decentralization of power houses in farms and villages etc.
(3) dissemination of Gandhiji's views, his books and his literature, his thinking.
(4) To join and to support any movement for decentralization of political powers to grass root level.
(5) To join and to support any movement for empowerment of women, protecting Indian culture and to fight against injustice to women.
(6) To join and to support any movement for poverty eradication, rural development, autonomous villages, self reliant villages etc.
(7) To join and to support any movement for removing English and replacing regional languages and Hindi in all schools and universities including medical and engineering faculties.( I have written a book in Gujarati DANGERS OF ENGLISH MEDIUM and locally running MATRUBHASHA MADHYAM ANDOLAN.)
(8) To join and to support any movement for removing present education system and replacing Asram and home school system independent from Government based on Gandhiji's ideas of true practical education through industries.
(9) To join and to support any movement to abolish present judiciary system and bring back ancient Panch Nyay system.
(10) To join and to support any movement for total prohibition throughout the country.
(11) To join and to support any movement for free gun right for self defense as is existing in USA and as it existed in India before 1912.
(12) To join and to support any movement for freely establishing community radios without any license and Government interference.
(13) To join and to support any movement for abolishing all India services like IAS, IPS,IFS etc
(14) To join and to support any movement for abolishing present Constitution of India and adopt new CONSTITUTION FOR REAL SWARAJ written by me to cherish the dream of Gandhiji to make half million villages as sovereign states. (This is available on http://freedomindia.com)
My business web site www.tinytechindia.com has many good articles under MY ARTICLES which have been highly appreciated all over the world. Almost 700 engineers, scientists and businessmen from about 80 countries have visited me so far. I have gone to 30 countries of Africa, Europe, USA and Asia, many of them by invitations with all cost. World Bank published an article A LITTLE COMPANY WITH BIG IDEAS about me.
I have written the following books in Gujarati. VIKAS NO PARDAFASH, GAMDA NU NAVSARJAN, KELAVNI MANTHAN, SADI MA J SANSKRUTI, SACHA SWARAJ NI RUPREKHA, ANGREJI MADHYAM NI BHAYANAKTA. All my books are to support Gandhiji's vision for India.
