Appeal To African Elites

I am working for rural development internationally particularly for African countries. I have visited Africa four times and moved in several countries and I am trying to understand African people with a keen interest. I am very much distressed to see dangerous disparity in all the African countries i.e. only a handful of people having captured most of the wealth of the country and millions of masses remaining hand to mouth. I have also observed that most of the races of Africa have inner spirit and good capabilities to come up in line with so called civilized and developed countries. So I am very much optimistic that Africa is competent enough to come out as the strongest continent of the world in a very short period of 10 to 20 years and can provide alternative to the western life style which has no future as it is based on exploitation of the entire world. I am humbly describing myself as real friend and real well wisher of African people because I have burning desire to remove their merciless exploitation being done through various multinational and big companies. I want to humbly show real path of happiness for common masses. I am carrying in my heart certain BASIC CONVICTIONS which force me to suggest that if the path which I am recommending is followed by African people, it will bring economic revolution in Africa and also in the world in one or two decades through which Africa will come out as the strongest continent.

But I have painfully observed that most of the elite class of every African country is under illusion that model of development and progress imposed on them by developed countries is correct and path of development and progress shown by developed countries is real path. So all the Governments of Africa follow the same pattern of development as Europe and U.S.A. followed. So every African country is trying to establish big industries, is trying to develop highways, cities, power stations, ports, airports and infrastructure required by giant industries. I VENTURE TO ASSERT THAT THIS IS NOT THE PATH OF HAPPINESS BUT THIS IS THE PATH OF EXPLOITATION AND PERMANENT SLAVERY OF AFRICAN PEOPLE. If you want homogeneous development and progress of entire society of millions of masses, you have to evolve your own economic strategy based on local self reliance atleast for primary needs of people i.e. for food, cloth and shelter and energy consumed in it. Very evidently this type of local self reliance can be achieved through cottage scale family size industries based on small and simple technology. When I came to know about big maize mills purchasing maize from hundreds of villages, I was really shocked. Tremendous amount of exploitation can be eliminated simply by establishing tiny tiny maize mills everywhere where ever necessary. Maize milling is the simplest technology. A very ordinary workshop can manufacture maize mills. But it is a painful wonder that throughout Africa, big maize mills are working resulting in to heavy exploitation of common masses. Nature of technology is such that complicated machinery makes simple thing also complicated.

Primary needs such as maize flour, wheat flour, rice, cooking oil, sugar, jaggery, tea coffee, soap, cloth, bricks, tiles and building materials etc. are all simple things and all these things must be manufactured at cottage scale level with very simple and cheap technology. THIS IS THE PATH OF HAPPINESS. BIG COMPLICATED MACHINERY HAS NO PLACE IN MANUFACTURING PRIMARY NEEDS OF PEOPLE. WHENEVER AND WHERE EVER YOU VIOLATE THIS PRINCIPLE, YOU GIVE RISE TO EXPLOITATION, ANY COUNTRY OR SOCIETY WHICH IS BEING EXPLOITED FOR PRIMARY NEEDS OF PEOPLE, CAN NEVER COME UP AND IS DESTINED TO RUIN.

Many people raise doubts that how all the primary needs can be fulfilled through cottage industries. How cloth and electricity can be produced at cottage scale. I know that number of such questions can be raised. I must admit that I have no ready made solution for every such question. But I do have strong faith and conviction that every such question can be transformed in to a pleasant solution if dedicated efforts are made to develop small and simple technology for every kind of primary needs. You must know that previously world best quality cloth was produced in millions of houses of India since centuries with very simple tools and equipments not costing even 100 dollars. It can be still produced in millions of houses if controls imposed on cottage industries for favoring giant centralized economy are abolished. A very fine quality of jaggery (hygienically better than sugar) is still produced at cottage scale practically at every sugarcane farm in spite of strict controls of our government to abolish this farm level industry for favoring giant sugar factories. Bricks and lime is still a cottage industry throughout India. There are at least 1000 tiny flour mills in my city alone (population 1.4 million). Oil milling was also cottage industry throughout India since centuries. Our Government made foolish blunder to abolish it.

So my most sincere advice to African elite class is that "You should immediately return from the dangerous path which leads to exploitation, ruin and perish. You should evolve your own path based on decentralized, small and simple machinery which will have no exploitative capacity. Only such machinery will be blessing to the mankind. Through such simple technology only, you will be able to create homogeneously happy society and such happy society will be right answer, right solution and right alternative to the western type wasteful and exploitative civilization. THOSE WHO WORK FOR THIS CAUSE ARE REAL FRIENDS OF HUMANITY.

One most common doubt is raised against such tiny industries is that whether such tiny units are economically viable and can compete to big units ? It is really strange that such question is asked from every part of the world. So it seems that entire world is under illusion that big heavy industries are more viable. This is absolutely wrong. In fact tiny units are always more viable than big centralized industries. One can imagine that tiny units enjoy four distinct advantages over big centralized units. i.e. (1) Transport is eliminated or minimized (2) Packaging is eliminated or people use their own tins, bins, jars etc. (3) Middlemen are eliminated. (4) Marketing is eliminated or minimized and hence all evils of marketing such as profiteering, hoarding, speculation, adulteration, deception, shortage etc. are automatically eliminated. Tiny units for basic needs will work for local consumption with local raw materials. So all the four advantages will go to tiny units. So they are bound to be far strongly more viable than big centralized units. I have proved this contention beyond doubt by establishing 1400 tiny cooking oil mills which are running most successfully, most profitably and most satisfactorily in India and 80 countries. What is true for tiny oil mills can be proved true for other industries of basic needs including tiny power plants also. So I sincerely appeal to all AFRICAN ELITES to come out from false illusions of development, to throw away present theory of development, to ponder over the alarming situation of present age and seriously adopt this pious work of rural development through tiny scale industries with strong faith that entire Africa can be got rid of entire exploitation and entire continent can be made happy without any big industry. I am absolutely confident that one who will determine to work in this direction, will definitely meet with great success and he will earn the credit for making great revolutionary changes in Africa through small deeds.

Appeal To Thermal Power Engineers

Mahatma Gandhi has asserted that pre-condition of happy society is that all the means of production of primary needs of the people must be in the hands of the common masses. This applies to all the primary needs such as rice, sugar, jaggery, oil, cloth, footwear, and also electricity and power. Gandhiji was deadly against heavy and giant industries. So he was against giant thermal power plants also. He once asserted that cables of transmission lines can be only used by common people for wrapping around neck and committing suicide. He also once asserted that we (People of India) should learn appropriate use of steam and electricity for common masses. So it is very clear from Gandhiji's stand point that steam power should be produced and utilized at very small scale level in the farms and villages wherever it is to be utilized.

I am 75 years  mechanical engineer and understood Gandhiji's thinking at my age of 20 years. It is quite clear that by promoting huge thermal power plants, no happy society is created. It is very much evident that huge thermal power plants create huge disparity in the society by making available huge power to very big factories owned by very rich people and on the other hand 50% population of India have no power connection in their homes even for single bulb. Entire rural India and agriculture sector is facing huge shortage of electricity and they are suffering injustice since last 70 years. This is naked result of giant thermal power plants. Our government has grossly neglected Gandhiji and fact is that government is betraying Gandhiji since last 70 years. So every engineer working for giant thermal power plants is committing sin against humanity, no matter innocently and inadvertently.

So my humble and hearty appeal to all such engineers is to just look the vision of Mahatama Gandhi which provides extremely simple and cheap solution for creating happiness in villages and throughout India. Based on Gandhiji's thinking, I developed the idea of tiny thermal power plants and tiny solar power plants. I developed Steam Engines from 5 HP to 50 HP. Very simple steam boilers can be manufactured in villages. Steam engine + Boiler becomes the simplest tiny thermal power plant for mechanical power. 90% power used at present is in the form of mechanical power. So electricity generation can be conveniently avoided. I am exporting such tiny devices up to 20 HP in developed countries of Europe, USA, Australia, Canada etc. In the following paragraphs you can study the eye-catching advantages of Tiny Thermal Power Plants as against Giant Thermal Power Plants. So my appeal to all thermal engineers working for giant thermal plants is that you should divert your attention from giant thermal power plants to tiny thermal power plants. It will create very quickly huge prosperity and unimaginable happiness in entire India and almost ideal homogeneous society can be created by decentralizing thermal power plants to farms and villages. Out of your huge budget, you can initially divert 10 to 20% budget for establishing tiny thermal power plants in farms and villages. It is extremely simple and very very cheap and highly efficient. So please ponder over the following paragraphs and if your conscience is convinced, then please go to the direction of Gandhiji. Please note that the following thinking is based on my 50 years of practical experience and it has been widely appreciated internationally by many many engineers, humanitarians and scientists working internationally. As per my vision, in next 30 years, millions of tiny thermal power plants will be established and giant coal based thermal power plants will lose their relevance in the economy and will start closing down, remaining as skeletons of madness of human mind.

It is quite possible that even though most of the engineers understand and grasp Gandhiji's vision, they may not be able to change the policy from giant power plants to tiny power plants. There is a quick solution for providing power to entire India in Gandhiji's vision. As per my own estimate, within 5 years only, abundant power can be produced wherever it is to be utilized. i.e. in 5 HP to 20 HP mechanical power simply by steam engine and boiler. So while working in giant power plant, you have a huge scope of making 10 million rural boilers of 500 kg/hour or smaller capacity. You must be well versed in boiler making and if you can help to rural people to make boiler locally for self use by farmers, I am sure that every thermal engineer can earn millions of rupees and still they get blessings from entire rural India. This is not Utopian thinking but this is based on my sound experience of earning millions of rupees from rural technology. I have exported my tiny products based on Gandhiji's thinking in 102 countries and really we have earned millions of rupees and I am also getting blessings from all over the world. So if someone understands Gandhiji's vision and if his conscience is inclined to work for it, I have a pleasant solution for this dilemma as above.

Now please read the benefits of tiny thermal power plants described below. If interested, you can read my many articles in my web site.

HUGE SCOPE OF TINY THERMAL POWER PLANTS

Liberalization of power generation has opened vast opportunities for small generation capacities in villages. Steam energy is coming back very fast as blessing for local distributed generation. There is bright scope of establishing 10 million tiny thermal power plants of 10 kw capacity in farms and villages of India.  Tiny thermal power plant to which we call tiny steam power plant specifically is the simplest power plant consisting of only two equipments i.e. small biomass boiler  where steam will be produced by burning any biomass and steam engine which is revolved by steam to give mechanical power to  run any machine such as water pump for irrigation, rice huller for rice milling, flour mill for grain grinding, sugarcane crusher to extract sugarcane juice, oil expeller to get cooking oil or generator for electricity and lighting. Such tiny steam power plants will have the following eye catching advantages:-

  1. Rural electrification is unsolved problem since last 60 years. 80 million poor homes have no electricity in villages of India. Giant thermal power plants with transmission and distribution lines involving thousands of crores of rupees will not solve this problem fully even in next 20 years. Installing Tiny Steam Power Plants is the quickest solution at minimum cost. All un electrified villages can be electrified in 2 years at 20% cost of the budget being spent by the government for this purpose. For tiny thermal power plant, no transmission lines, no distribution lines, no losses.
  2. Tiny thermal power plants will be very cheap. 10 kw steam power plant costs only Rs 4 lakhs which may become cheaper by mass production. Considering cost of transmission and distribution lines, transformers, losses in it, losses in converting electricity to mechanical power etc, investment in tiny power plants will be only 20% than in giant thermal power plants. So with same investment, about 5 times capacity can be built in a very short period of 3 years only.
  3. Tiny power plant will use steam engine which is simple technology. The technology of steam engine is not a new technology. We should remember that entire British empire was built and expanded in the world by using steam engines in boats and steamers, in vehicles and railways, in war equipments, in factories, in textile mills and so on. Steam engine is so much simple that even in villages, it can be produced on lathe.
  4. Tiny power plants with steam engines will greatly contribute for water lifting problem. Entire rural India is facing heavy shortage of electric power in agriculture sector and as electricity is never available in time, farmers are losing their crops. This can be avoided and problem can be solved by Tiny power plants with steam engines.
  5. Tiny steam power plants can be operated on biomass, agricultural waste, crop residue, forestry waste, wood etc. So farmers can produce their own power. So farmers will be independent from the harassment and tyranny of electricity authority. THIS WILL BE THE BIGGEST HAPPINESS TO VILLAGERS. In India, about 20000 MW power can be produced from 280 million tonnes of biomass through tiny steam power plants.
  6. Tiny power plants with steam engines will greatly encourage co-generation with Combined Heat & Power application in oil milling, sugarcane crushing, rice milling etc. Waste heat of steam engine can be gainfully utilized for ice making and refrigeration without any running cost. So tiny steam power plants will be highly efficient and blessing to villagers. The huge amount of heat created by burning coal is simply wasted in giant thermal power plants which is not possible to use it. Huge amount of cooling water is required in giant thermal power plant simply to dispose off heat energy in atmosphere which creates huge problem of water and environment.
  7. Tiny power plants with steam engines will be established in villages and hence it will greatly save transport expenses of agricultural produces from villages to cities. So import of diesel will be reduced and traffic burden on highways will be reduced.
  8. Tiny steam power plants will greatly contribute for rural development, income and employment generation in villages and homogeneous development of the country. Benefits of this can not be measured in rupees. In fact, this will be real development.
  9. In most of the industries, direct mechanical power will be more convenient and generation of electricity will not be required. So investment cost of generators and motors will be saved. Efficiency of direct mechanical power is always higher than converting in to electricity and using electric motors for mechanical power.
  10. Tiny boilers of tiny steam power plants are designed to accept any type of biomass fuel. It can work for coal also. So small steam steam power plants will be blessing to small farmers. it will get more and more importance particularly in agriculture and agro processing industries. In case of giant thermal power plants, design of boiler is for specific type of coal only. Any type of coal can not work there. So if it is designed for the coal of Jharkhand, it can not work with Meghalaya coal.
  11. Gestation period of giant thermal power plant is 3 to 4 years and that of atomic power plant is 10 years, while tiny power plant can be installed in maximum one month.
  12. Tiny steam power plants can be converted in to tiny SOLAR power plants in future simply by adding solar concentrator which will become cheaper and affordable and economically viable in a few years only. Giant thermal power plants can not be converted to solar power plants. So when solar power will be abundant, huge investment made for giant thermal power plants will be simply wastage.

Thus we can bring real revolution in rural India by establishing 10 million tiny steam power plants.

Appeal To Engineers

We are living in the era of engineers. Progress of science and technology has created innumerable amenities for happy life. Much of the comfort and luxuries created by industrial progress is due to the dedicated efforts of thousand of engineers, technologist and scientist. Hence, there is no exaggeration in saying that we are living in the era of engineers.

But the industrial development as seen today is not so innocent. It has its black side also. Present industrial progress is associated with exploitation, disparity, unemployment, poverty, centralization, urbanization, pollution, displacement of innocent poor people and wars also. Moreover, it makes our life more and more complex which gives rise to tension in our routine life. Infact, it encourages materialism and greed for luxurious life at any cost. So if we assess the industrial progress in totality, we have to come to the conclusion that its debit side far outweighs its credit side. This is particularly true for a country like India.

Since centuries, we had the most scientific and well organized economic structure based on self reliant villages. Crores of people were living their simple life peacefully in villages. Most of the people had their own occupation. We have damaged this sound structure heavily in the name of industrialization. We have disturbed entire village lifestyle by exploiting masses by breaking their occupations and by concentrating wealth into handful of industrialists. This has created unemployment, poverty and dispartiy. At present our 50 crores of villagers are living miserable life worse than animals . They are so unfortunate that they have to sleep with their hungry stomach every day. They are victims of our so-called industrial development.

I feel that real reason of undesirable consequences of industrial progress is because engineers are helpless to work for greed of money. We give more importance to our salaries and to our prospects for our personal happiness than to consider the impact of our work on society.

I admit that after putting in hard labour for years together to achieve degree of engineering, we have right to expect something which may provide us comfortable life. But I have painfully observed that matter does not end there. Every type of greed has no end. Once engineer gets comfortable life, he expects more and more comfort and luxuries. We engineers, never think of the result of our work on society. We conveniently ignore the consequences of the industrial progress which we are making even after knowing that our efforts to manufacture certain machinery or goods or services will result in increasing exploitation, unemployment and poverty of masses. We are not paying any attention towards it. We are not accepting any responsibility of increasing evils of the industrial development. This leads to the conclusion to me that we are selfish for our own comfortable and luxurious life. To accomplish it, we are dedicating our entire intelligence and perseverance to foster the centralized industrial structure, sole purpose of which is to make profit by exploiting masses without any consideration of morality. In this way we are cooperating in the advancement or evils in the society. It is really deplorable that not a few engineers are found who will deny to work where their work is ultimately going to result into evident exploitation of masses.

We must ponder over this horrible situation. We must try to find out why industrial progress results into horrible disparity giving handful of people too much luxuries and to millions of people only miseries. We must try to find out why the centralization of wealth and power takes place due to industrial progress.

But I know that many engineers are not satisfied with their jobs. They know that their hard labour put for earning their livelihood results into the exploitation of masses. So they have discontent for their work. They feel pity for masses. They have sympathy for them. But they feel themselves helpless in the matter. They do not find any alternative. They desire to come out of the present situation. But they do not know how to do it. They feel some vacuum in their life. They feel lack of morality in their work. Hence, their conscience always rebel against their job. They are eager to help the poor people either by changing their job or by starting their own business. But they do not know how to do it.

I have to specially appeal to such engineers. There are hundreds of scopes in the present day society for earning your livelihood and helping the poor people. These vast scopes are in villages. Although our decentralized rural economic structure has been severely damaged, it is not completely ruined. It is still living. It is repairable. I am optimistic that if thousands of Engineers pay enough attention to the real needs of villages and they vow to work for villages, within two decades only, entire village based economy can be re-established. If this is done, India will come out as the strongest country of the world and it will lead to the world on the path of peace and real happiness.

I want to emphatically assert that not only small is beautiful and small is possible, but also small is inevitable in every industrial field. It may be energy, textile, sugar, oil, fertilizer, paper, steel, automobile or aeroplane making. This is the demand of 21st century.

This is not wishful thinking. This is really achievable and practicable. Really no great sacrifices are necessary to achieve this great goal. I will humbly state that only condition to reach this situation is that Engineers must come out of the present dogma of industrial development leading to giant centralized mass productions systems and they should understand properly the significance of decentralized production by masses scattered into millions of cottages and homes which can impart real happiness to the entire humanity. We, engineers, must turn our faces towards half million  depleted villages of India and we must vow to work for them only. We must abandon jobs and business which give rise to exploitation of masses and we must find out such business which can prosper the villages and common masses. If this is done, revolutionary miracle will happen within two decades only.

But you may raise the doubt how miracle will happen, how present giant evils will disappear and what business hundreds of engineers can adopt. These are natural questions. My reply is very simple. Various giant evils seen in the present society are associated with giant industries. IF INDUSTRIES ARE DECENTRALIZED TO TINY SCALE, MAGNITUDE OF THE EVILS ALSO WILL BE REDUCED TO TINY SCALE. Spread of tiny cottage industries in millions of houses in rural areas will bring about balanced homogenous economic growth, which will eradicate most of the economic evils generated by giant industries.

I have specially studied some statistics of India and I have come to the conclusion that all the major industries including the core sector industries can be easily decentralized to very tiny scale as cottage industries. Particularly agro based industries need immediate attention for decentralization. I have conviction that no question of economic viability is going to arise for tiny scale cottage industries. On the contrary, tiny cottage industries are naturally the most viable units and they can successfully compete giant industries. Precondition of solving all the problems of development is only one i. e. Engineers must whole heartedly accept this work of industrial decentralization. Huge opportunities are eagerly waiting for you where success is ready to greet you. I have prepared practical list of huge scope of making tiny machines and equipments from which about one lakh engineers each can earn one crore rupees! Seems to be unbelievable? No, really it is practicable and achievable. calculations are based on hard facts and on my own experience of 42 years. So take it very seriously. Here is the partial list of huge scope.

(Above list is not exhaustive. Many more items can be added)

Pick up any one item from the above list, persevere behind it and I am sure that you can earn one crore rupees from the selected item as per calculation in last column.

Three lakhs of tiny cotton ginning machines running on single phase 1 HP motor can be established in rural areas which will gin the entire cotton production of India. 40000 tiny bailing presses are required which will press bales of 20 kg weight instead of 170 kg weight. At present India produces 300 lakhs of bales of 170 kg annually. At least 2 crores of tiny spinning units of 8 spindles are absolutely required in our villages throughout India Textile industry is the biggest industry in India responsible for maximum exploitation of villages. If such  tiny spinning units are established, major source of drain of wealth from villages will be plugged and it will create vast opportunities for self employment of villagers. At the same time cloth production will be undoubtedly cheaper in this manner.

Present annual production of 200 lakh tonnes of oilseeds are crushed for edible oil into 50000 expellers throughout India. This industry exploits billions of rupees from villagers every year. If two lakhs of tiny oil mills are manufactured and established in villages, entire exploitation from edible oil industry can be stopped.

here is a vast scope of establishing about one lakh tiny jaggery mills which can  produce  jaggery without producing any molasses. This will yield 14% combined recovery. If this is done, all the present giant sugar mills will have no place in the market.
About two lakhs of tiny rice mills can be established as cottage industry which can easily compete to present big rice mills. Such a tiny rice mill may cost not more than Rs. 50000/-

Cement is not a mysterious product. It is simply a mixture of natural compounds accruing by burning limestone with clay in suitable proportion. No giant plant is necessary for this. Tiny cement plant of 1 TPD  capacity can be developed wherever limestone is available. Such a tiny cement plant will definitely compete to the present giant cement plants of one million tonne per annum capacity. About one lakh such tiny cement plants are absolutely necessary in the country.

There is a possibility of establishment of one lakh micro hydro projects by harnessing every stream of river. This will give cheaper electricity and investment per kilowatt will be reduced half.

There is a scope of about one lakh tiny soap making units in villages. About one lakh unemployed chemistry graduates can be self employed in this industry very easily.

About five lakhs of modern and fuel efficient lime kilns are necessary in villages to manufacture good quality lime.

About one million of cheap vehicles of one tonne capacity running at not more than 30 km. speed and driven by 5 HP single cylinder engine are urgently required in villages. If properly designed, such vehicles should not cost more than Rs. one lakh.

About five million tiny solar power plants are required for villages
for running cottage industries and small scale industries and providing lighting. Solar cookers, solar concentrators, bio gas plants have unimaginable scope.

This is not the exhaustive list. This list can be lengthened still further. Millions of cottage industries based on local raw-materials can be established in various parts of India after studying raw-material and consumption pattern of that particular region. For designing and manufacturing the above machinery, I have estimated that atleast one lakh of engineers can be accommodated and if the entire scheme is implemented, it will generate the self employment opportunities for 50 million people. So if any engineer is genuinely thinking to serve OUR MOTHER INDIA by way of involving himself for the development of decentralized industries for poor people, he himself can choose any one industry from the above. I am sure that he will find vast opportunities even for personal development for earning wealth and profit over and above prospering the country. I can assure that all above business opportunities are sacred in its nature; as it provides chances of development of really needy people.

The opportunities in the above fields are so wide in the present context that there is no risk of competition also. Any person can choose any business and start earning money. This is my personal experience. I started my activity of manufacture of tiny oil mills in 1984. I had not to face any competition. Within three year time only, I was quite well established. So far I have established about 1500 tiny oil mills in 78 countries. But it is just a drop in the ocean. I should clarify that still I do not have any production machinery. I get everything done from tiny machine shops on job work basis and then get it assembled achieving complete decentralization. In spite of this tiny work, I am considered well established industrialist and I am known in 150 countries.

This is the "YUGAKARYA" (mission) for engineers. If you are convinced, then, " Awake ! Arise ! And stop not till the goal is reached ! "

Appeal To Patriotic Elites Of India

I am 74 years mechanical engineer influenced by Gandhiji's thinking since 55 years and working for rural development to increase rural wealth through home scale and village scale industries. I am very much distressed to see dangerous disparity in our country i.e. only a handful of people having captured most of the wealth of the country and millions of masses remaining hand to mouth. I have also observed that our rural people have inner spirit of our culture which has inherent capabilities to surpass to so called westernized urban people. So I am very much optimistic that rural India is competent enough to create finest specimen of humanitarian life style and people's economy free from exploitation, poverty, hunger etc. This unique quality is inherent in our culture which will make India as the strongest country of the world in a very short period of 10 to 20 years.
I am humbly describing myself as real friend and real well wisher of our rural people and I have burning desire to remove their merciless exploitation being done through various multinational big companies and also Governments. I want to humbly show real path of happiness for common masses. I am carrying in my heart certain BASIC CONVICTIONS which force me to suggest that if the path which I am recommending is followed by rural people, it will bring economic revolution in India and also in the world in one or two decades through which we can abolish hunger, unemployment, disparity, war, terrorism etc and  make entire globe full of peace and happiness.

But I have painfully observed that most of our elite and educated people are under illusion that model of development imposed on us by developed countries is correct and path of development shown by them  is real path. So our Central and State Governments follow the same pattern of development as Europe and U.S.A. tell us. So our Governments are trying to establish big industries, are trying to develop highways, cities, power stations, ports, airports and infrastructure required by giant industries. I VENTURE TO ASSERT THAT THIS IS NOT THE PATH OF HAPPINESS BUT THIS IS THE PATH OF EXPLOITATION AND PERMANENT SLAVERY OF OUR PEOPLE. If you want homogeneous development of entire society of millions of masses, you have to evolve your own economic strategy based on local self reliance at least for primary needs of people i.e. for food, cloth and shelter and energy consumed in it. Very evidently this type of local self reliance can be achieved through home scale family size industries based on small and simple technology. Giant complicated machinery and plants have no place in this picture because complicated machinery makes simple thing also complicated.

Primary needs such as wheat flour, rice, cooking oil, sugar, jaggery, soap, cloth, bricks, tiles,  cement, lime and building materials and even electricity are all simple things to produce and  so all these things must be produced at home scale, farm scale and village scale level with very simple and cheap technology. I can suggest quick solution for instant electrification of our villages by tiny thermal power plants run by biomass or by solar.

I have no doubt that everything can be produced at home scale and village scale including cement, sugar, cloth and electricity if dedicated efforts are made to develop small and simple technology for every kind of primary needs. You must know that previously world best quality cloth was produced in millions of houses of India since centuries with very simple tools and equipments not costing even 5000 Rupees. It can be still produced in millions of homes by using solar electricity if we sincerely work for home scale industries. A very fine quality of jaggery (hygienically better than sugar) is still produced at farm scale practically at every sugarcane farm in spite of strict controls of our government to abolish this farm level industry for favoring giant sugar factories. Bricks and lime is still a cottage industry throughout India. There are at least 1200 tiny flour mills in my city alone (population 1.5 million). Oil milling was also cottage industry throughout India since centuries. Our Government made foolish blunder to abolish it. Rice milling can be decentralized very easily by establishing rice hullers driven by steam engines running on rice husks.

So my most sincere advice to our patriotic elite class is that "You should immediately return from the dangerous path which leads to exploitation, ruin and perish. You should evolve your own path based on decentralized, small and simple machinery which will have no exploitative capacity. Only such machinery will be blessing to the humanity.

It is really strange that this question is asked from every part of the world. So it is evident that entire world is brought under this illusion through wrong education that big heavy industries are more viable. This is absolutely wrong. In fact tiny units are always more viable than big centralized industries. One can imagine that tiny units enjoy many inherent advantages over big centralized units such as (1) Transport is eliminated or minimized (2) Packaging is eliminated or people use their own tins, bins, jars etc. So all the advantages will go to tiny units. So they are bound to be far strongly more viable than big centralized units. I have proved this contention beyond doubt by establishing 1800 tiny cooking oil mills which are running most successfully, most profitably and most satisfactorily in India and 85 countries. What is true for tiny oil mills can be proved true for other industries of basic needs including tiny power plants also. So I sincerely appeal to all patriotic elite friends to come out from false illusions of development, to throw away present theory of development, to ponder over the alarming situation of our rural people and seriously adopt this pious work of rural development through tiny scale industries with strong faith that entire world can be got rid of entire exploitation and entire planet can be made happy without any big industry. I am absolutely confident that one who will determine to work in this direction, will definitely meet with great success and he will earn the credit for making great revolutionary changes through small deeds.

I have developed tiny oil mills, tiny jaggery plants, tiny steam power plants based on biomass, steam engines, domestic parabolic solar cookers, small community solar cookers, large solar baskets etc. I have already developed solar water pumping systems and tiny solar plants which are strongly viable. Very soon, I will manufacture domestic wind turbines, tiny cement plants (one tonne/day) etc. My industrial activity is my life mission. Nothing is secret with me. I feel that my family consists of 121 crores for whom I am constantly worrying.
